Toyota has unveiled an innovative new livery for its upcoming 2024 World Rally Championship venture, showcasing a bold departure from the norm. The GR Yaris Rally1 for the upcoming season will maintain Toyota's signature corporate colors, but with a striking twist — a fusion of red and white emerging from a sleek black canvas. This distinctive livery is set to make its mark not only in the WRC but also in Toyota's World Endurance Championship pursuits.
Jari-Matti Latvala, the team principal, expressed his enthusiasm for the revamped appearance during the unveiling in Japan, stating, "I am very proud and honored to show you the new GR Yaris Rally1 for WRC season 2024. And yes, in a completely new color and design compared to last year!"
Highlighting the significance of this transformation, Latvala added, "It is an exciting time right now with the GR Yaris facelift for 2024 and our customer motorsport program. To celebrate this we wanted to bring an exciting and fresh look for the fans – and it’s quite a make-over from what we started with back in 2017."
Toyota conveyed the inspiration behind the new colours, stating, "There are two concepts for the all-new matt black livery for the GR Yaris Rally1 and the GR010 HYBRID [WEC car], which compete in both FIA World Championships. One of the concepts is ‘speed’ representing our spirit [of] ‘hate to lose."
“The other one is the ‘prototype’ which represents making ever-better motorsports-bred cars and to keep evolving.”
In addition to the prominent black, white, and red elements, the cars feature a silver reflective roof, designed not just for aesthetics but also to assist in keeping the crews cool during intense competition. The 2024 season promises not only cutting-edge performance but also a visually captivating representation of Toyota's commitment to pushing the boundaries in motorsports.
