In the world of automotive enthusiasts, a project car is more than just a mode of transportation; it's a labour of love, an expression of individuality, and a testament to craftsmanship. Keegan Goodall's Altezza is a prime example of such dedication and passion, showcasing the transformation of a factory 2JZ-GTE VVTi engine into a powerhouse of performance. Nestled in the heart of this project are a plethora of high-quality components, meticulous engineering, and a vision for creating a responsive mid-range power package that's suitable for both street and circuit use.

The Altezza's Engine
Under the hood of Keegan Goodall's Altezza, you'll find an impressive array of components that collectively make the engine a powerhouse. The 2JZ-GTE VVTi engine received a brand-new short block with ACL mains, big ends, thrust bearings, and Eagle "ESP" H-Beam Connecting Rods. The cylinder head was similarly upgraded with a brand-new head featuring a HRE port, ARP head studs, Kelford valve springs with titanium retainers, Kelford adjustable cam gear, Kelford 264/272 camshafts, Ferrea standard size valves, and Ross Performance covers.

The intake system boasts a Plazmaman intake manifold, a Bosch 74mm DBW throttle body, and K&N Air filter with a Titanium pipe and Vibrant clamp. The exhaust system features a custom Benny_metalworks 3.5-inch titanium downpipe leading to a three-inch Titanium exhaust system. For forced induction, the Altezza relies on a 6Boost manifold, Borgwarner EFR8474, Turbosmart Electronic Straight Gate 50mm wastegate, and Turbosmart EFR blanking plate.
Fuel delivery is managed by a DW300 in-tank fuel pump with a custom hanger, DW 3.5-litre surge tank equipped with two DW350IL pumps, a Plazmaman dual-feed rail, Bosch Xspurt 1000cc injectors, Turbosmart FPR8, and a Turbosmart fuel filter. The ignition system is upgraded with a PRP R35 coil kit.

The Altezza's Cooling and Electrical Systems
To keep temperatures in check, the Altezza is equipped with a JZX100 Koyo triple-pass alloy radiator, a Sard low-temperature thermostat, Plazmaman 600x300x76mm intercooler, a GReddy thermostatic sandwich plate, Setrab oil cooler, and an AEM water-methanol kit. The engine management system is handled by a Haltech Nexus R3, complemented by a Haltech IC7 Dash, Haltech 3x2 keypad, Haltech wideband sensor, and Haltech external TMS.
Driveline and Suspension
The driveline features a R154 gearbox with upgraded Marlin crawler forks and thrust washer, and an oil gallery modification. The clutch is an ORC twin-plate clutch, and the flywheel is an ORC solid unit. The differential is a Cusco Type-RS 1.5-way eight-inch unit with JZX100 diff and axles. Additional enhancements include Serialnine solid subframe mounts, reinforced subframe, Serialnine diff mounts, and a Driveshaft Shop one-piece aluminum driveshaft.
Suspension is equally impressive, with Cusco street ZeroA shocks paired with an Econ2 controller, and 18kg springs in the front and 11kf springs in the rear. The Altezza's handling is further fine-tuned with Cusco adjustable front upper arms and Hardrace adjustable rear toe, traction, and lower arms.

Chassis Modifications
The chassis of Keegan Goodall's Altezza is strengthened with numerous upgrades, including Cusco Type-OS front strut brace, Cusco Type-OS rear three-point strut brace, Cusco inner boot brace, Cusco BCS, Cusco front and rear sway bars, Cusco front and rear V2 lower arm bars, Cusco rear V1 lower arm bar, TRD steering rack bushes, and castor arm bushes.
Brakes
The brake kit for the Altezza is a highlight of this build, with front TRD six-piston calipers featuring 355mm two-piece discs, Endless ME22 pads, HEL braided brake lines, and ENDLESS RF650 Fluid. The rear brakes include TRD four-piston calipers with 345mm two-piece discs, endless ME22 pads, HELL braided brake lines, and ENDLESS RF650 Fluid. The handbrake remains factory, with Project Mu D1 spec shoes.

Wheels and Tyres
The Altezza rides on Evo X wheels measuring 18x8.5-inches shod with Yokohama A048 tyres.

Exterior and Interior
The Altezza's exterior retains an OEM panel and paint, while it receives a touch of customization with an OEM elegance front lip, TRD front bumper canards, and an Origin Labo rear carbon wing with custom brackets.

Inside the cabin, Keegan opted for a TRD x BRIDE full bucket seat (Zetta III), a Nardi Grinta steering wheel, and a Cusco five-point bolt-in cage. The dash is flocked to give the interior a sporty and unique look.
Performance and Future Plans
While it hasn’t yet been on the dyno, it's likely this setup will achieve over 500kW with ease. Keegan has entrusted the tuning of his project to Brian at NDT Developments.
As of now, Keegan's Altezza project has been ongoing for a year, with more work to come. The remaining tasks include some fabrication work for the intercooler piping and intake, setting up an oil cooler, installing a new engine loom/harness, filling fluids, and fine-tuning the setup. Once these tasks are completed, the focus will shift to creating new rear fenders to accommodate wider tyres, essential for harnessing the newfound power effectively.
We can’t wait to see this one finished. Keep an eye on the blog for updates on his build!
